Lawrence Rubin Greenberg Van Doren Fine Art is pleased to present a group exhibition featuring Louise Belcourt, Eva Lundsager, and Cameron Martin, on view from January 10 through February 10, 2001. The exhibition will present new paintings by these three New York based artists.
Louise Belcourt, Eva Lundsager, and Cameron Martin are romantic painters. They work within the traditional genre of landscape painting, finding this territory still rich with formal and metaphorical possibilities. Brush, paint, and canvas become the medium for land, sea, and sky - partly informed by surrealism, abstraction, and conceptual painting. In Belcourt’s Island, a seemingly dumb and limb-like form rests itself on a grassy knoll. The horizon line mysteriously disappears from Martin’s luminous, monochromatic paintings. And in Lundsager’s work, abstract fields of bold color transform into fantastical sea and skyscapes.
Lawrence Rubin Greenberg Van Doren Fine Art is located at 730 5th Avenue at 57th Street, New York, NY 10019. Gallery Hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 10 AM to 6 PM. For more information, please contact the gallery at 212.445.0444
